Some wines wait for the right weather.
Eiswein waits for the nearly impossible.
Weinrieder Eiswein Grüner Veltliner Ried Dornleiten 2020 is made from grapes frozen naturally on the vine. Harvested by hand in freezing conditions, they yield a small quantity of intensely concentrated juice filled with sweetness, fruit and fresh acidity.
Ried Dornleiten is a high, south-facing vineyard restored by Weinrieder after being left fallow. Its lower slopes contain water-retentive loess and loam, while the dry upper section is pure gravel. Open western winds and surrounding forest help create a distinctive site for Grüner Veltliner.
Honey and ripe tropical fruit lead the wine, joined by mango, candied orange and stone fruit. Its 115g/L of residual sugar is balanced by a bright acid structure, creating richness without unnecessary weight.
A gift from nature.
Nature does expect you to wait outside in the cold for it.
Medium yellow-green with silver reflections.
Intense honey, ripe tropical fruit, mango and candied orange shape the bouquet.
The palate is concentrated and juicy, with vibrant acidity balancing its generous sweetness. Stone fruit and dates emerge through the fresh, persistent finish.
