OLD ROOTS. GREEN THINKING. BIG WINES.

FIFTEEN GENERATIONS IN —
AND STILL LOOKING FORWARD.

WINES THAT PULL THEIR WEIGHT

Lergenmüller gives us character at every level of the range.

The brighter, fruit-led wines are natural choices by the glass. The terroir bottlings bring more depth and a clearer sense of place, while the structured reds and reserves have the confidence for more ambitious lists and serious food pairings.

The wines are also vegan, using pea and potato proteins rather than animal-derived products for clarification. It is another thoughtful detail from a producer that combines bold winemaking with responsible decisions—and manages to make both feel entirely natural.

Lergenmüller brings together two things we particularly like: centuries of experience and absolutely no desire to stand still.

Based in the sunny southern Pfalz, the family makes generous, modern wines with plenty of fruit, structure and personality. Powerful reds are a particular strength, alongside elegant Burgundian varieties and expressive whites.

Behind them all is a serious commitment to looking after the vineyards—not because green thinking happens to be fashionable, but because the family plans to be here for generation sixteen.

WHY WE CHOSE LERGENMÜLLER

Quite simply, the wines make an impression.

The warmth of the Pfalz gives Lergenmüller plenty of ripe, expressive fruit to work with. The clever part is knowing what to do with it. The reds are bold without becoming heavy, the whites have freshness as well as flavour, and the Burgundian varieties arrive with elegance but none of the unnecessary tiptoeing.

There is something for the glass, something for the list and something for customers who want a little more depth. Familiar varieties make the range approachable; the quality and individual style make it worth returning to.

GREEN IS NOT A MARKETING COLOUR

Sustainability at Lergenmüller runs through the vineyard, cellar and wider business. The estate works with FAIR’N GREEN, a programme that looks beyond a single certification box to consider biodiversity, soil health, working conditions and the long-term future of the winery.

In practical terms, that means gentler intervention in the vineyards, encouraging a healthier natural environment and making decisions with the next generation in mind. After nearly five centuries on the same land, thinking long term comes fairly naturally.

It also means the green credentials have some substance behind them—which we always find more convincing than a leaf on the label.

INTERNATIONAL STYLE. PFALZ ACCENT.

Lergenmüller describes its approach as regional terroir with an international outlook. That sounds rather grand, but the wines explain it perfectly well.

The Pfalz brings warmth, ripeness and generous fruit. Different soils—including sandy loam, marl and limestone—bring variation and character, while spontaneous fermentation and carefully judged maturation in wood add texture and complexity.

The resulting wines feel polished but not processed. They are confident, expressive and immediately appealing, yet there is enough freshness and detail to stop all that generosity getting carried away.

FIFTEEN GENERATIONS
NO REAR-VIEW MIRROR

The Lergenmüller family has been making wine since 1538. That is an impressive amount of experience, but what interests us is how they use it.

This is not a winery preserved under glass. The cellar continues to evolve, the approach to sustainability keeps moving forward and the range is built for the way people drink wine now. Fresh, fruit-driven bottles sit comfortably alongside terroir wines, structured reds and mature reserves.

The family knows its vineyards inside out. It just does not feel the need to turn every bottle into a history lesson.
