Quevedo White Porto 0.75L
PINEAPPLE, RIPE APPLE AND SPRING HONEY. WHITE PORT DESERVES FAR MORE ATTENTION THAN IT GETS.
White Port has spent long enough sitting quietly at the back of the drinks cabinet.
Quevedo White Porto makes a convincing case for bringing it forward. Made exclusively from native white grapes grown in Portugal’s Douro Valley, it is fresh, fragrant and wonderfully easy to drink—particularly when properly chilled.
The grapes are pressed in whole bunches before the juice begins a slow, spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel. The wine is then fortified and blended across different harvests, giving the finished Port an average age of three years.
Pineapple, ripe apple and delicate flowers lead the way. Orange and lychee follow, with a touch of spring honey lending richness without dragging the wine into anything heavy or cloying. A flicker of pepper arrives at the finish and brings everything neatly back into line.
Drink it cold before dinner. Pour it over ice. Add tonic and a slice of orange if the afternoon looks promising.
White Port may be traditional. There is nothing old-fashioned about drinking it.
Tasting notes
Light straw in the glass, with pineapple, ripe apple, spring honey and delicate floral notes on the nose.
The palate is smooth and gently rounded, bringing orange, lychee and honey before a subtle peppery note sharpens the finish. Fruity and softly sweet, but fresh enough to make another glass seem entirely reasonable.

Cocktail serve
White Port & Tonic
There are cocktails that require specialist equipment, obscure ingredients and ten uninterrupted minutes.
This is not one of them.
The tonic lengthens the Port without covering its pineapple, citrus and floral character. The orange does the rest.
Ingredients
50ml Quevedo White Porto
100ml chilled tonic water
Fresh orange slice
Plenty of ice
Method
Fill a large wine glass with ice and add the White Port.
Top with chilled tonic water and stir gently. Garnish with a fresh slice of orange.
No shaker. No ceremony. No reason to stop at one.
Food pairing
Start with salted almonds, green olives or thin slices of cured ham. The wine’s sweetness softens the salt, while its fresh citrus character keeps the whole thing moving.
It also works well with melon and cured ham, soft cheese, lightly spiced dishes and fresh fruit.
Or simply open it before dinner and see whether it survives long enough to meet the food.
