Quevedo 10 Anos Tawny Porto 0.75L
DRIED RED FRUIT, TOASTED ALMONDS AND CARAMEL. TEN YEARS IN WOOD, WITH EVERY ONE OF THEM PUT TO GOOD USE.
Ten years is where Tawny Port begins to show what patient ageing can really do.
Quevedo 10 Anos Tawny Porto is blended from some of the family cellar’s best mature Ports, with an average age of ten years. Each component develops separately in old, neutral wooden casks before Cláudia Quevedo brings them together.
The result has considerably more depth than a younger Tawny, but it has not lost sight of the fruit. Dried red berries, plum and raisin sit alongside fresh hazelnut and almond. Caramel and layers of warm spice arrive later, carried by enough acidity to keep the wine composed rather than merely sweet.
The grapes are completely destemmed and fermented slowly in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats. Following fortification, the wines mature in stainless steel and seasoned French oak and chestnut casks. They are then blended to achieve the required ten-year average and gently filtered before bottling.
Smooth, rich and quietly complex, this is Tawny Port with nothing left to prove—and no particular reason to wait until Christmas.
Tasting notes
Garnet at the centre, moving towards brick at the rim.
Dried red fruit, plum and raisin lead the nose, followed by fresh hazelnuts, almonds and the mellow warmth of time in wood.
The palate begins with spice and a small reminder of red fruit before developing layers of dried fruit and caramel. Sweetness, acidity and alcohol are particularly well balanced, leaving the finish pleasantly dry, long and composed.

Perfect serve
Serve lightly chilled at 12–14°C in a proper Port or small white-wine glass.
A slight chill keeps the sweetness under control while allowing the dried fruit, nuts, caramel and spice to open gradually. There is no need to decant it, although giving it a few minutes in the glass is rarely a bad idea.
Pour modestly.
Return generously.
Cocktail serve
Ten-Year Tawny Manhattan
Using ten-year-old Tawny in a cocktail may appear extravagant.
It is. That is partly the point.
Rye whiskey gives the drink structure and spice, while the Tawny replaces sweet vermouth with dried fruit, nuts and caramel.
Ingredients
40ml rye whiskey
25ml Quevedo 10 Anos Tawny Porto
2 dashes aromatic bitters
Orange twist
Method
Add the rye, Tawny Port and bitters to a mixing glass filled with ice.
Stir until properly chilled, then strain into a cold coupe or small cocktail glass. Express the orange peel over the surface and use it as the garnish.
Rich, polished and considerably easier than waiting ten years yourself.
Food pairing
Dried and candied fruit are natural companions. Figs, dates, apricots and crystallised orange all reflect flavours already developing in the Port.
Chocolate also works particularly well, especially when combined with candied fruit or roasted nuts. Quevedo specifically recommends a mixture of dried fruits and chocolate with candied fruit.
Elsewhere, look towards almond tart, crème brûlée, mature hard cheese or a simple bowl of toasted hazelnuts.
It is also perfectly capable of being dessert on its own.
