Quevedo Dry White Porto 0.75L

HK$0.00

RIPE PEAR, GOLDEN APPLE AND HONEY. FRESH, FLORAL AND DRY ENOUGH TO KEEP ITS COMPOSURE.

White Port does not always need to behave like dessert.

Quevedo Dry White Porto is made from traditional white Douro grapes and fermented for longer to leave considerably less residual sugar than the producer’s standard White Port. The result is fresher, sharper and particularly well suited to aperitif drinking.

Ripe pear, golden apple, peach and honey lead the nose. The palate opens with a bright, firm edge before developing flavours of apple, poached pear and honey. Its lower sweetness creates tension and definition, while the aromatic fruit prevents the wine from becoming austere.

The grapes are completely destemmed and crushed before a slow fermentation without skin contact. Native yeasts carry out the fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless-steel vats at up to 22°C. The Port then spends three years in stainless steel and receives a gentle filtration before bottling.

Fresh enough for the beginning of the evening.

Complex enough to survive well beyond it.

Tasting notes

Golden in colour.

The nose is fresh and expressive, combining ripe pear, golden apple, peach and honey.

Lower residual sugar gives the palate a crisp, direct opening. Apple, honey and poached pear then develop across the middle, supported by bright acidity and a precise, persistent finish.

No decanting is required.

Simply chill, open and make sure the tonic is nearby.

Cocktail serve

Dry White Port & Tonic

A classic Portuguese aperitif requiring very little effort and even less explanation.

Ingredients

  • 50ml Quevedo Dry White Porto

  • 100ml premium tonic water

  • Lemon or orange peel

  • Ice

Method

Fill a large wine glass with ice and add the Dry White Port.

Top with tonic water and stir gently. Express the citrus peel over the drink and add it as the garnish.

Long, crisp and admirably uncomplicated.

Food pairing

Salty appetisers are particularly effective because they contrast with the Port’s fruit and remaining sweetness.

Quevedo recommends melon with cured ham, savoury appetisers and fruit salad. (quevedo.pt)

It will also pair well with:

  • Salted almonds

  • Marinated olives

  • Smoked salmon

  • Prawns and shellfish

  • Goat’s cheese

  • Light pâté

  • Grilled peaches

  • Tapas and charcuterie

Or serve it before the food arrives.

That is what aperitifs are for.
