Quevedo 20 Anos Porto 0.75L

HK$0.00

TOASTED NUTS, CANDIED FRUIT AND CARAMEL. TWENTY YEARS OF PATIENCE, FOLLOWED BY A VERY LONG FINISH.

Twenty years changes a Port.

Fresh berries have largely given way to dried and candied fruit. The colour has softened from ruby to fawn, while prolonged maturation has introduced toasted nuts, caramel and warm spice.

Quevedo 20 Anos Porto is a Tawny Port blended from different harvests to achieve an average age of 20 years. The individual wines are fermented in stainless-steel vats before maturing in stainless steel and seasoned chestnut barrels. Cláudia Quevedo then assembles the final blend and filters it gently before bottling.

The nose is intense and precise, moving through fresh and toasted nuts into dried and candied fruit. On the palate, caramel joins the nuts and fruit before cinnamon and nutmeg appear through the middle.

A citrus lift arrives towards the finish, making it feel drier, fresher and more elegant than its richness might suggest.

This is what time does particularly well: it replaces youthful enthusiasm with complexity, composure and considerably better manners.

Tasting notes

Fawn in colour with a brick-toned edge.

The bouquet is deep and concentrated, combining fresh nuts, toasted nuts, dried fruit and candied fruit.

An elegant opening brings walnuts, hazelnuts, dried fruit and caramel. Cinnamon and nutmeg develop across the mid-palate, followed by brighter citrus notes and a remarkably long, gently drying finish.

Rich, mature and complex, but never short of freshness.

The 20-year designation represents the character and average age of the wines in the final blend. It does not mean that every component comes from one harvest or has spent exactly 20 years in the same barrel.

Perfect serve

Serve lightly chilled at 12–14°C in a small white-wine or proper Port glass.

A gentle chill keeps the sweetness composed while allowing the toasted nuts, candied fruit, caramel and spice to emerge as the wine warms.

There is no need to decant it. Pour it directly from the bottle and give it a few minutes in the glass.

Twenty years in the making. Five minutes to open. A reasonable arrangement.

Cocktail serve

Twenty-Year Tawny Old Fashioned

This is not the moment for fruit juice, umbrellas or enthusiastic shaking.

A measure of mature Tawny, a little aged rum and aromatic bitters are quite enough. The rum provides structure, while the Port brings nuts, caramel, dried fruit and spice.

Ingredients

  • 40ml aged rum

  • 30ml Quevedo 20 Anos Porto

  • 2 dashes aromatic bitters

  • Orange peel

  • Large ice cube

Method

Add the rum, Tawny Port and bitters to a mixing glass filled with ice.

Stir until chilled, then strain into a rocks glass over one large ice cube. Express the orange peel over the drink and use it as the garnish.

Mature, quietly luxurious and much easier than ageing your own Port.

Food pairing

Hazelnut desserts are an excellent match. The nuts reflect the Port’s mature aromas, while pastry and caramel work naturally with its richness.

Tiramisù is equally convincing. Coffee and cocoa introduce bitterness, mascarpone provides softness and the Tawny supplies dried fruit, nuts and spice. Both pairings are specifically recommended by Quevedo.

It will also work beautifully with:

  • Crème brûlée

  • Pecan tart

  • Walnut cake

  • Almond pastries

  • Salted caramel desserts

  • Mature hard cheeses

  • Toasted hazelnuts and dried figs

Or pour it without food and pay attention to the finish. You will have plenty of time.
