Lergenmüller Roter Lehm Merlot Trocken 2021
RIPE CHERRY, TOASTED OAK AND GENTLE SPICE. OPULENT PFALZ MERLOT WITH SOFT TANNINS, BALANCED ACIDITY AND A RICH, LONG-LASTING FINISH.
The name Roter Lehm—red clay—points directly to the origins of this generous Merlot.
Grown on heavy red-clay soils under the influence of the southern Pfalz’s warm climate, Lergenmüller Roter Lehm Merlot Trocken 2021 combines ripe fruit with substantial body and a distinctly smooth texture.
Ripe cherry forms the heart of the wine, supported by gentle spice and the balanced toasted character acquired during maturation in oak barrels. The palate is full-bodied and opulent, yet harmonious acidity prevents the wine from becoming heavy.
Wonderfully soft tannins complete its rounded structure, while the oak contributes warmth and complexity to the long, savoury finish. The result is a generous German Merlot with the concentration for hearty food and the balance to develop further in bottle.
Softly spoken tannins.
A rather more commanding personality.
Tasting notes
Deep ruby red with dark garnet reflections.
Ripe cherry leads the bouquet, joined by dark fruit, subtle spice and balanced toasted-oak aromas.
Full-bodied and opulent on the palate, with concentrated fruit, soft tannins and harmoniously integrated acidity. Gentle roasted notes accompany the smooth, persistent finish.
