Hans Wirsching Iphöfer Spätburgunder Trocken 2022
RIPE CHERRY, RED BERRIES AND DELICATE SAVOURY SPICE. ELEGANT FRANCONIAN PINOT NOIR WITH LIGHT BODY, FINE AROMATICS AND A BALANCED DRY FINISH.
Elegance rather than sheer power defines this Franconian red.
Hans Wirsching Iphöfer Spätburgunder Trocken 2022 is a VDP.Ortswein produced from Pinot Noir grown around the historic town of Iphofen. Warm vineyard sites, fertile soils and limestone-rich subsoils provide favourable conditions for this famously sensitive grape variety.
Known in Germany as Spätburgunder, Pinot Noir requires time to develop its characteristic balance of fruit, body and finely detailed aromatics. Careful maturation allows those elements to come together without sacrificing the wine’s lighter, more graceful personality.
The result is a finely aromatic red with ripe cherry and berry character, gentle savoury nuances and a composed, dry palate. At 13% ABV, it offers sufficient structure for roasted meats and mature cheeses while retaining the freshness and refinement expected of well-made Pinot Noir.
A lighter interpretation of the king of red grapes.
Though clearly not short of authority.
Tasting notes
Clear ruby red with youthful garnet reflections.
Finely aromatic on the nose, with ripe cherry, red berries and restrained savoury spice.
Light and elegant on the palate, showing balanced fruit, gentle structure and a smooth, dry character. Subtle earthy notes accompany the composed, lingering finish.
