Hans Wirsching Iphöfer Kalb Silvaner Alte Reben Trocken 2024 (Copy)

HK$0.00

RIPE APPLE, FINE HERBS AND GENTLE MINERALITY. BALANCED OLD-VINE SILVANER WITH FRESH ACIDITY, SUBTLE FRUIT AND CLASSIC FRANCONIAN RESTRAINT.

A vineyard name shaped by the landscape.

Hans Wirsching Iphöfer Kalb Silvaner Alte Reben Trocken 2024 is a VDP.Erste Lage wine from the southern slope of the Kalb vineyard, situated on an isolated hill east of Iphofen. The hill was cleared during the Middle Ages and became known as the “kahler Berg”, or bare hill, from which the name Kalb developed.

Higher proportions of gypsum in the soil produce Silvaner with a lighter, more refined character. The vineyard’s southern flank is reserved for Erste Lage wines, combining favourable exposure with the distinctive mineral influence of the site.

Silvaner is central to Hans Wirsching, accounting for around 40% of the estate’s vineyard area. The variety is traditionally made in the dry Franconian style, allowing the character of its soil and origin to take priority over overt sweetness.

Delicate fruit and fine herbal aromas introduce a clear, composed palate. Balanced texture, subtle minerality and pleasantly fresh acidity continue through the rounded finish.

A classic Franconian Silvaner.

Considerably more expressive than its quiet manner initially suggests.

Tasting notes

Bright yellow with youthful green reflections.

The nose is delicately fruity and finely aromatic, with ripe apple, quince, fresh herbs and subtle earthy minerality.

Balanced and rounded on the palate, with restrained fruit, gentle herbal spice and fine, pleasant acidity. The finish is clean, harmonious and refreshingly understated.
